We’ve all seen surveys listing the most pet friendly cities in the US – right? Who performs those surveys? What pet friendly criteria are judged? Which city is THE most pet friendly? GoPetFriendly will answer these questions over the course of three posts.
We tracked the results of six recently published surveys that named, in total, 24 different pet friendly cities in their tabulations. (Note: Although they say “pet” friendly survey, we’re talking “dog” here.) The table below charts the rankings of three surveys by Pet Airways, TopTenz, and Rent.com. For now, the cities are listed in alphabetical order.

Pet Airways – This survey simply lists the 12 “most dog friendly cities in the US.” No judging criteria are mentioned, however, the Humane Society (2007) is cited as the source.
TopTenz – Compiled by (oddly enough) only 9 writers, this survey provides a brief synopsis of why each listed city made it to their top 10.
Rent.com – The survey was done by a home-finding business and, like TopTenz, has a short explanation of what made their pet friendly cities a top 10 choice.
