On the Go With Winnebago

by Rod Burkert on January 12, 2010

We are pawsitively thrilled and blessed to announce that GoPetFriendly.com and Winnebago Industries will join forces to spread the pet travel mantra.  In a few weeks, we will be getting a brand new Winnebago View.  “On the Go with Winnebago” will be the new slogan for our future road trips with Ty and Buster. We plan for these trips to be longer and more frequent so we can deliver the best pet travel information to you, our readers.  After all, its all about the pets!

Welcome to our new home!

Our motorhome will still need to be dressed to the K-nines.  Thus, Apple Graphics, Inc. has created four potential vehicle wrap designs – please help us choose one by voting for your favorite on our Facebook page.

Below is the full press release that was sent out on January 8th.

PHILADELPHIA – GoPetFriendly.com and Winnebago Industries have joined forces to spread the word about the ease and fun of traveling with pets.

On the Go with Winnebago” will be the new slogan for GPF’s future road trips as co-founders Amy and Rod Burkert, along with their dogs Ty and Buster, will be traveling in a brand new 2010 Winnebago View.®

GoPetFriendly.com, launched in 2009 by the Burkerts, is the only source of up-to-date pet policies for over 4,000 pet-friendly campgrounds and RV parks and more than 20,000 hotels and B&Bs throughout the US and Canada. The Burkerts have become a living example for the website’s users, giving up their day jobs to travel with their dogs and blogging about their adventures.

“We were convinced that the website will not be successful if we just sat in our office and told people how easy it is to travel with their pets,” said Amy Burkert. “We need to travel, and the new Winnebago View, with its pet-friendly features, will make our trips much more enjoyable.”

When deciding on the View, the Burkerts appreciated the versatility of the coach, which is roomy and offers a lot of storage, but is compact enough to easily navigate city streets. “The full-wall slide-out adds valuable floor space for “furry”  travelers that need to keep their paws on the floor, and opting for a bed over the cab means you won’t have fur in your sheets,” said Burkert.

“Pet friendly travel is another great benefit owners of Winnebago Industries motor homes enjoy. GoPetFriendly.com further enhances pet traveling experiences by providing ready access to pet travel information and sharing best practices for traveling with pets,” said Chad Reece Winnebago Industries Director of Marketing.

“Approximately 8.2 million American households have an RV, and the pet travel industry is skyrocketing, so teaming up with Winnebago makes all the sense in the world,” said Burkert.

GPF users search for and locate pet friendly beaches, wineries, shopping centers, off-leash dog parks and much more. By linking up with the leading reservation sites, GPF is able to provide the best deals on hotels and with their unique Roadtrip Planner, even planning a road trip is made simple. Use of the website is free, and pet-friendly establishments are not charged for their listing.

  • Sweet ride indeed!

I'm looking forward to a west coast GoPetFriendly/Winnebago trip stopping or starting in Victoria! =)

Wherever you decide to start (in Canada), it'll be a breeze. Just jump on the only major highway in Canada (the Trans Canada Highway), and drive from one end of the country to the other.

Looking forward the adventures of Buster & Ty. =)
  • I love #1 the best because it tells everyone exactly what you're all about. I'm so excited to keep reading about your adventures. Be sure to show us some inside pics!
